Dallas Mavericks Make Aggressive Moves at 2024 Trade Deadline
Mavs Acquire Daniel Gafford and PJ Washington
Dallas Bolsters Frontcourt with Key Acquisitions
The Dallas Mavericks have made a splash at the 2024 NBA Trade Deadline, acquiring center Daniel Gafford from the Washington Wizards and forward PJ Washington from the Charlotte Hornets. The deals were part of a series of aggressive moves by the Mavericks, who are looking to strengthen their roster for a playoff push.
Gafford is a 6'11" center who has averaged 12.9 points and 10.1 rebounds per game this season. He provides the Mavericks with a physical presence in the paint and will be a valuable addition to their frontcourt, which has struggled with injuries this season.
Washington is a versatile 6'7" forward who can play multiple positions. He is averaging 14.6 points and 10.3 rebounds per game this season and will provide the Mavericks with much-needed depth on the wings.
The Mavericks gave up a 2024 first-round draft pick and Richaun Holmes in the trade for Gafford. They also sent a second-round pick to the Hornets in the deal for Washington.
